The CEO & the Board of Directors

The CEO and the Board Directors of ARA Engineering have a long experience of working within the power transmission industry. 

 The CEO

Jóhannes Þorláksson 200The CEO of ARA Engineering is Mr. Johannes Thorleiksson. He is a power systems engineer that has professional experience from Norway and Iceland. Mr. Thorleiksson became the CEO of ARA Engineering on July 1st 2017 after the company was taken over by Norconsult in Norway.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Board members

Árni Björn JónassonMr Arni Bjorn Jonasson is the former CEO of ARA Engineering and is now holding the position of a senior structural engineer.  Mr Jonasson is a civil and structural engineer from Denmark´s Technical University in Copenhagen, Denmark. The first years of his career he worked in the line department of Landsvirkjun (The National Power Company), designing 132 kV and 220 kV transmission lines as well as being heavily involved in wind and ice load analysis of transmission lines. He founded Linuhönnun Engineering which became one of the biggest engineering companies in Iceland in designing, transmission lines, bridges, facilities, environmental assessments etc. Linuhönnun was merged into EFLA in 2009 with a number of other entities. Mr. Jonasson has designed 220 to 400 kV transmission lines in many countries. He retired from EFLA in 2010 when he founded ARA Engineering with ROLV Geir Knutsen.

 

 

Rolv Geir KnutsenMr Rolv Geir Knutsen is a civil engineer engineer from the Technical University of Trondheim, Norway. He started his professional carrier as a construction manager in the private sector before moving on to Statkraft where he worked on design and civil engineering of substations, technical and economical planning of power line construction, In 1980 he became a Project Engineer, Responsible for development, evaluation and testing of new methods and training related to power line construction, In 1986 be became a section manager of the Transmission Line Construction Department, a position he held until 1992 when he became a vice president and head of the transmission department. In 1992 when Statnett was founded, he became a senior vice president and head of Statnett´s Engineering Division, a position he held until 2008 when he retired into a role of a senior advisor until 2009. He retired from Statnett in 2009 when he founded ARA Engineering with Arni Bjorn Jonasson and Agnar Olsen.

 

 

 

Pétur Þór Gunnlaugsson 150Pétur Þ. Gunnlaugsson is a civil engineer with more than 20 years professional experience in engineering work. He got his BSc degree from the University in Iceland and a Masters degree from the Technical University in Karlsruhe, Germany. After graduation he started his professional carrier as a structural engineer at Linuhonnun Engineering moving on in 1994 to ICE Consult software development and consulting company and then in 2004  back to Linuhönnun Engineering as a project manager. In 2013 he joined ARA Engineering as a senior partner working as as project manager.
